Guwahati, Feb. 10 -- A day after AIMIM Chief Assaduddin Owaisi lodged an FIR against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for a now-deleted social media post allegedly showing violent imagery targeting Muslims, two Congress legislators in the state on Tuesday filed an FIR concerning the controversial post.
The post had depicted the Chief Minister symbolically firing at two men wearing skull caps from close range.
Assam Congress MLA Sibamoni Bora and Diganta Barman lodged the FIR during the day at the Dispur police station and requested that a case be registered under appropriate sections of the penal law and that necessary action be taken.
