Imphal, Sept. 19 -- Two personnel of 33 Assam Rifles were killed and five others were injured when unknown armed persons laid an ambush at Nambol, Bishnupur district today.
The jawans were travelling to one of its camp in a truck when the ambush was laid. A jawan sitting in the front seat died on the spot while another jawan sitting in the back side also died. The driver lost control and the truck fell into a ditch beside the road. Civilians who were nearby helped the jawans and were rushed to Nambol health centre. As their conditions deteriorated all were taken to RIMS.
The area was cordoned off and an investigation started.
The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla strongly condemned the attack.
