Bhubaneswar, Jan. 16 -- Folk cultural programmes like Tusu singing play a vital role in preserving and promoting traditional art, literature, culture, customs, and values, Odisha Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra said on Friday.
Addressing the 8th Tusu Festival-2026, organised by the Badasole Village Committee of Suliapada in Mayurbhanj district, the minister said such festivals help foster harmony and brotherhood in society while reflecting the unique expressions of local folk traditions.
Mahapatra highlighted that the Tusu festival places strong emphasis on youth engagement and women's empowerment.
