Washington, Feb. 19 -- Claiming yet again that he had stopped the military standoff between India and Pakistan last May, United States President Donald Trump on Thursday said during the mediation, he had threatened to impose 200 per cent tariffs on the two nations.

Trump also claimed to have told the two nations that he would not sign any trade deal with them if they did not "settle this up".

Addressing the first meeting of his Board of Peace here, Trump claimed both the countries had wanted to continue the fighting but "When it came to losing a lot of money, they said, I guess we don't want to fight.."India, has, however, time and again rejected any third party mediation during the military standoff with Pakistan last year.
