Washington/ New Delhi, Oct. 13 -- US President Donald Trump on Monday declared the war between Israel and Hamas "over" as he departed on a high-stakes diplomatic mission to Israel and Egypt, aimed at cementing the ceasefire and kick-starting Gaza's reconstruction.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump expressed strong confidence in the durability of the truce. "The war is over. Okay? You understand that?" he said. "I think it is going to hold.
