Agartala, Jan. 28 -- Tripura Police confiscated a large quantity of fertilisers unlawfully stored at the residence of TIPRA Motha leader Mohanlal Chakma in Chawmanu, Dhalai district.

According to police, the bio-fertilisers and manures, intended for free distribution to farmers under government schemes, were illegally kept at Chakma's home. Storing such materials in a privately owned location is illegal and constitutes corruption, sources indicated.

"A total of 98 sacks of bio-fertilisers meant to support farmers' production were found. Preliminary evidence indicates that possessing such a large stock privately is unlawful. The sacks are being transferred to the agriculture department's storage facility," police said.
