Agartala, Feb. 11 -- Tripura High Court ordered the immediate return of a minor girl, Pratiti Chakraborty, to her mother, Prabha Rani Das, deeming her continued stay at a child welfare institution in Tamil Nadu unauthorised and amounting to unlawful detention.
A Division Bench of Justice T Amarnath Goud and Justice S Dutta Purkayastha instructed Hope House in Tamil Nadu, where the child was held, to hand her over to her mother with proper acknowledgment.
The State government was directed to assign a senior police officer to accompany the mother to bring back the child by February 15. Tamil Nadu authorities, including Hope House, Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore, were ordered to assist in implementing the court's decision.
