Agartala, March 18 -- Tripura Assembly on Wednesday passed a unanimous resolution to reschedule the elections for Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) from April 13 to 12, just a day after the initial announcement.

The decision to reschedule the elections was made in light of multiple festivals coinciding with the original election date. During the zero-hour discussion, Congress MLA and former Minister Sudip Roy Barman raised concerns about the clash of electoral dates with significant cultural celebrations, including Buisu and other indigenous festivals. The earlier election date was also only two days prior to the Bengali New Year.
