Agartala, March 25 -- As the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections draw closer, tensions have surged following the release of candidate lists, with reports of violence emerging in different areas of the state.
Preliminary accounts indicate that supporters of ADC's ruling party TIPRA Motha were allegedly attacked while returning home after greeting their party's candidate in Asharam Bari Hala Hali constituency, where candidate Champa Hawar was campaigning in the Bharat Sardar area.
It is claimed that four to five party members and supporters, who had gone to welcome the candidate, were ambushed during their return. The attackers reportedly used bricks and other objects, causing injuries to several individuals.
