Azamgarh/Jaunpur, Oct. 28 -- Three families in Azamgarh district and one in Jaunpur celebrating Chhath Puja were plunged into grief after four tragic deaths, police said today.
In Bhadiya village under Jahanaganj police station area of Azamgarh, a 14-year-old boy, Manish Yadav, a resident of Tarcha village, drowned in a pond during Chhath rituals this morning. According to local sources, Manish had gone with his family to perform Chhath Puja when he slipped and fell into the pond. By the time villagers pulled him out, he had already died. The entire village is in mourning following the incident.
