Srinagar, Jan. 20 -- Days ahead of Republic Day celebrations, security forces averted a major tragedy after detecting a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway on Tuesday.
The device was later safely defused, officials said.
The suspicious object was found on the roadside near Takiya Tapper Pattan in Baramulla district by security forces during the routine sanitization of the strategic Srinagar Baramulla highway earlier the day.
The suspected IED was found by second battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawans at around 8.40 am during an anti-sabotage check along the highway.
