Shimla, Jan. 24 -- The tourist resort Manali in Himachal Pradesh received about 45 cm snow in the last 24 hrs while the state capital had 27 cm snowfall, ending a prolonged dry spell in the state.
According to Indian Metrological department, Keylong recorded about 75 cm snow. Lahaul Spiti district is cut off from the rest of country. "It was first time in last 20 yrs that Shimla and its nearby areas had major snowfall."Snowfall was recorded at Jubberhati, Law University Ghandal and Jaypee University Wakanghat and Kandaghat. Minimum temperature of Shimla plummetted to minus 0.5 degrees, around four degrees below normal, and Manali minus 0.4 degrees, two degrees below nornmal.
