Lucknow, Feb. 13 -- Uttar Pradesh, already India's top destination for domestic tourists with footfall tripling since 2016, is now converting tourism growth into decentralised employment opportunities.

The state's Bed and Breakfast (B&B) and Homestay Policy 2025 is proving to be a game-changer, enabling ordinary households to participate in the formal tourism economy.

In nearly six months of the introduction of the policy, applications and certifications under the Bed and Breakfast and Homestay framework have gained steady momentum. From mid 2025 to early February 2026, applications have touched 2000, while certifications issued are about 700.
