Patna, May 10 -- Bihar Tourism Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta on Sunday said that the state government would promote tourism over the next five years to generate employment and create self-employment opportunities for the youth.

Gupta said that tourism is not merely a means of travel and recreation but also a strong driver of employment, trade and economic development.

He said the growth of tourism would directly benefit local artists, handicraft workers, cultural performers and small traders, creating large-scale livelihood opportunities across the state.

The minister said the government would undertake extensive national and international promotion of Bihar's tourist destinations to attract more visitors from across India and abroad.
