Torch relay for 6th Asian Beach Games held in Sanya

Sanya, March 30 -- The torch relay for the 6th Asian Beach Games was held here in south China's Hainan Province, with 74 torchbearers carrying the flame along a 10.5-kilometer route linking scenic spots along Sanya Bay.

The one-day relay on Sunday featured a flame-collection ceremony, a launching ceremony and a flame-lighting ceremony, according to Xinhua.

Chang Yani, Olympic champion and the first torchbearer, said running with the torch on the beach alongside the sea was a unique experience that heightened her anticipation for the upcoming Games.

Qi Guangpu, a Winter Olympic champion and the final torchbearer, said it was his first time participating in a torch relay despite competing in multiple Olympics.
