New Delhi, Feb. 17 -- The player auction for the inaugural edition of PGTI's 72 The League kicked off with excitement in New Delhi, as six city-based franchises competed to build their squads of ten professionals each. Each team had a purse of Rs 1 crore to spend.

The six franchises in the auction were Delhi-based Capital Lancers, Hyderabad-based Charminar Champions, Kolkata Classics, Mumbai Aces, Rajasthan Regals, and UP Prometheans, as per a release.

Honey Baisoya, fresh off his DP World Players Championship win at Qutub Golf Course, emerged as the top draw. The 29-year-old, placed in the Platinum category with a base price of Rs 10 lakh, was snapped up by Capital Lancers for Rs 20.5 lakh following a three-way bidding battle with Rajast...
