Krishnagiri (Tamil Nadu), Feb. 21 -- Police opened fire at a 23-year-old man accused in the gangrape of a girl, after he allegedly attacked two police personnel with a knife in a bid to escape from being arrested in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu on Friday.
Police said a four-member gang waylaid the girl and her relative on Wednesday evening and forcibly took her to a secluded place, where they gangraped her. They also robbed gold jewels, mobile phones and Rs 7,000 cash from them.
Based on a complaint from the victim, police held a detailed investigation and identified the culprits as Abishek (21), Kalaiyarasan (22), Narayanan (22) and Suresh (23).
