Chennai, Feb. 17 -- Owing to the implementation of Tamil Nadu Millet Mission, the state at the national level has ranked first in Ragi productivity, second in Ragi production, and fifth in Minor millets production, said Agriculture Minister M.R.K.Panneerselvam.
Presenting the agriculture interim budget for 2026-27 onTuesday, he also said, "The area under Cumbu/Pearl millet cultivation has increased from 1.18 lakh acres to 1.33 lakh acres."Panneerselvam explained that to increase the production and consumption of millets that significantly contribute to the well-being of the people, Tamil Nadu Millet Mission is being implemented as a five-year scheme from 2023-24.
