Chennai, Feb. 17 -- Owing to the implementation of Tamil Nadu Millet Mission, the state at the national level, was ranked first in Ragi productivity, second in Ragi production and fifth in Minor millets production, Agriculture Minister M.R.K.Panneerselvam saidon Tuesday.
Presenting the Agriculture Interim Budget for 2026-27 in the State Assembly, he also said the area under Cumbu/Pearl millet cultivation area has increased from 1.18 lakh acre to 1.33 lakh acre.
He said, to increase the production and consumption of millets that significantly contribute to the well-being of the people, Tamil Nadu Millet Mission is being implemented as a five year scheme from 2023-24.
