Chennai, Nov. 4 -- Acting swiftly, a day after the shocking gangrape of a 21-year-old college student near Coimbatore international airport, Tamil Nadu police cornered the three culprits and shot and injured them in their legs to prevent them from fleeing, in the wee hours Tuesday.

Congratulating the police for nabbing the accused within a day by acting swiftly, Chief Minister MK Stalin said no amount of strong words would suffice to condemn the inhuman crime. He also directed the police to file a chargesheet within a month and secure maximum punishment for the culprits.
