Chennai, July 22 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin today announced allocation of
about Rs 40 crore to develop Gangaikonda Cholapuram, build a museum and other activities
to mark the 1000th birth anniversary of Tamil King Rajendra Chola-1.
The anniversary falls tomorrow on Aadi Thiruvathirai day.
In a special package to mark the occasion, Mr Stalin said the 'Chola Gangam' lake would be developed at a cost of Rs 12 crore, besides setting up a museum in a 10 acre areas and provide more fillip to tourist activities.
An official release said the museum would be set up at a cost of Rs 22.10 crore and for tourism development activities with an allocation of Rs 7.25 crore.
