Shillong, Feb. 19 -- Leader of Opposition in Meghalaya assembly, Dr. Mukul Manda Sangma on Thursday demanded a probe into alleged extraction of incidental minerals by a contractor working on National Highway 62.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) legislator informed the House during the Question Hour that he had received inputs indicating deviations from the approved alignment of the road by the contractor to exploit incidental minerals for construction purposes.
"The report indicates that there is deviation from the approved alignment, and while doing so the contractor is engaging in extracting incidental minerals to be utilised. It seems the contractor is taking advantage - the builders are colluding in this illegality," Sangma said.
