Kolkata, March 21 -- : Father of Swapna Barman, the Trinamool Congress candidate from Rajganj Assembly constituency in Jalpaiguri district, Panchanan Barman, died early on Saturday, casting a shadow over her election campaign ahead of the Assembly polls.
He had been undergoing treatment at a hospital in Siliguri for the past few days following an illness.
Deeply concerned about his health, Barman had even offered prayers for his recovery.
The Asian Games gold medallist, who joined the All India Trinamool Congress towards the end of last month, had recently been fielded from Rajganj after the party announced candidates for 291 Assembly seats.
