Chennai, Sept. 8 -- With defending champions Hyderabad taking a narrow 23-runfirst innings lead, the title clash against TNCA President's XI was heading for a keenfinish on the morrow.

At close on the penultimate day, the home team resuming at 142 for one in 61 overs,came within striking distance of overhauling Hyderabd's 376, but fell short by 23 runs.

After opener S Radhakrishnan narrowly missed out on a hundred by two runs, middleorder batsmen B Indrajith and G Ajitesh came up with fine half centuries to keep theteam in the hunt for the lead.

Radhakrishnan, who resumed on 73, was dismissed after scoring a resolute 98 (238 balls,5x4) and missed out on a well deserved century after a dogged display at the crease.
