Kolkata, March 28 -- A severe norwester (Kalbaishakhi) disrupted flight operations at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport here on Friday night, forcing at least four incoming aircraft to divert to alternate destinations, while a flight carrying union Home Minister Amit Shah circled the city skies for nearly an hour before finally landing.
According to airport sources, two of the diverted flights were international services arriving from Dubai and Bangkok, while the other two were domestic flights from Hyderabad and Bengaluru. All four aircraft were unable to land due to adverse weather conditions triggered by strong winds and heavy rain.
