Jammu, Nov. 5 -- Hundreds of devotees from different parts of neighbouring states paid tributes to Baba Jitto, as the Jhiri Festival started in the city outskirts on Wednesday.
Baba Jitto fought against the archaic system of exploitation and for the cause of marginalised farmers.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, while speaking after inaugurating the fair at Marh Sub-Division, called upon the people to take a pledge to embrace the path of selfless service and work towards a just and equal society as envisioned by Baba Jitto.
He said: "Together we can make a strong, secure, prosperous and self-reliant Jammu Kashmir".
