Chennai, May 5 -- If it was election time, authorities would be spreading the message "Every Vote Counts" or "Your Vote Matters" in every nook and corner, stressing the importance of the voters exercising their democratic right.
Still, many people don't believe it and think that their vote doesn't really make a difference. A case in point in the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls is that of former DMK Minister K R Periyakaruppan, who lost by a solitary vote to eventual winner Srinivasan of the nascent TVK of actor Vijay at the Tirupattur constituency in the southern Sivaganga district.
