Thane, Jan. 3 -- : Enforcement agencies in Thane have seized narcotics, liquor, cash and other prohibited items worth approximately Rs 2.75 crore during intensified checks carried out after the Model Code of Conduct came into force for the municipal corporation elections, officials said on Saturday.
Nodal Officer Bhalchandra Behre said the coordinated action by Thane Police, the State Excise Department and surveillance teams between December 15 and January 1 focused on preventing the illegal movement of money, drugs and liquor during the election period. The most significant seizure involved 57.937 kilograms of narcotic substances valued at over Rs 2.28 crore, forming the bulk of the total confiscation.
