Hyderabad, July 28 -- The Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TGHRC), chaired by Dr Justice Shameem Akther, has taken suo motu cognisance of two grave issues brought to light through media reports.
In the first case, the Commission acted on reports published on July 27 and 28, 2025, highlighting alleged illegal surrogacy and baby-selling practices at the Universal Srushti Fertility Centre in Secunderabad, along with affiliated clinics operating in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam.
Taking serious note of the issue, the Commission has sought a detailed report from the Principal Secretary of the Health, Medical & Family Welfare Department, Government of Telangana, by August 28, 2025.
