Hyderabad, Feb. 16 -- The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC), headed by Justice Shameem Akther, has taken cognizance of a complaint alleging gross police negligence in the murder of advocate G. Swapna Kumari.

The complaint (SR No. 515/2026), filed by 163 advocates, pertains to the brutal murder of the advocate on February 4, 2026, at Chevella, reportedly in connection with an ongoing land dispute.

The complainants alleged that despite prior representations by the deceased to the Moinabad police-naming her brother as a suspect and warning of threats to her life-no timely preventive action was taken, amounting to serious dereliction of duty.
