Guwahati, Feb. 6 -- Tension gripped Batadrava Than in central Assam's Nagaon district on Friday as supporters of the ruling BJP and opposition Congress were engaged in a bitter war of words over the visit of Congress leaders including APCC chief Gaurav Gogoi, AICC observer Jitendra Singh and others.

The incident took place when Congress leaders including APCC president Gaurav Gogoi, Jitendra Singh, Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bardoloi and others arrived at the historical Batadrava Than to seek blessings at the sacred pilgrimage site. The Congress leaders arrived at the Than as part of its Paribartan Yatra (Journey of Change) which the party plans to take to every nook and corner of Assam.
