Kendrapara, March 3 -- Forest personnel of the Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary on Monday apprehended ten fishermen on charges of illegally fishing inside the "No-Fishing Zone" of the Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary.
The arrested fishermen were booked under Sections 27, 29, and 31 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Kendrapara, which remanded them to judicial custody.
Manas Kumar Das, Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) in charge of the Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary, said that forest personnel intercepted a trawler and arrested the fishermen.
