Khammam, Feb. 16 -- Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday thanked voters for giving the Congress party a massive mandate in the recent municipal elections, stating that the results clearly reflected public confidence in the party's development and welfare agenda.

Addressing a media conference in Madhira in Khammam district, he said the verdict had decisively disproved the campaign by some parties that the Congress was strong only in rural areas and weak in urban centres.

"The people have given a fitting reply to such propaganda by ensuring a sweeping Congress victory in urban local bodies," he said.
