Peddapalli (Telangana), Jan. 24 -- In a boost to the state's efforts to curb leftwing extremism, eight Maoists, including a woman, surrendered before the Ramagundam Commissionerate police on Saturday.

The surrendered cadres were associated with various Maoist front organisations such as militia units, courier networks, cultural teams and local committees.

The surrendered Maoists were identified as Darmaji Srikanth, Podium Kamulu, Mudiam Joga, Kunjam Lakke, Modam Bheema, Kunjam Unga, Mudikam Sukram and Mudiam Mangu.

Except Srikanth, all belong to Gampur village under Gangeluru police station limits in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh and were active in Bijapur and bordering areas of Telangana.
