Hyderabad, Jan. 7 -- The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) has demanded that the Centre and the Telangana government immediately withdraw the show-cause notice issued by the Ranga Reddy District Collector seeking to reclaim 50 acres of land allotted to Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) at Manikonda.

In a statement on Wednesday, CPI(M) State Secretary John Wesley said the land was allotted to the university in 1998 and reclaiming it on the grounds of non-utilisation was unjustified and against UGC norms, which mandate reserving land for future academic needs.
