Hyderabad, July 7 -- Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has initiated a coordinated effort among Southern states to urge the Centre to revise its policy on palm oil imports, which he says is severely affecting domestic oil palm farmers.

In a bid to address the challenges faced by oil palm cultivators due to low import duties on crude palm oil, Minister Tummala held consultations with Agriculture Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka.

He also reached out to his counterparts in northeastern states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura, requesting a collective appeal to the Union Government.
