Hyderabad, June 25 -- Telangana Irrigation Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy today announced that the state government will initiate legal proceedings to halt the Godavari-Banakacherla Link irrigation project proposed by Andhra Pradesh, calling it "illegal and detrimental" to Telangana's interests.

The Minister made the announcement during a high-level review meeting with senior irrigation officials at Jala Saudha. He directed officials to prepare a comprehensive legal strategy to challenge the project and protect the state's water rights.
