Hyderabad, Jan. 8 -- In a bid to strengthen food security and reduce post-harvest losses, Telangana's Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has proposed a state-of-the-art 'silo-based grain storage system' across the state.

The proposal was discussed in a high-level review meeting at the minister's secretariat here on Thursday attended by officials from the Civil Supplies Department and the Food Corporation of India (FCI).

According to the minister, the initial phase of the project will create a storage capacity of 20 lakh tonnes.

"The primary objective is to prevent post-harvest losses, which have long plagued our farmers and the supply chain," Reddy said.
