Hyderabad, July 11 -- In a major step towards strengthening child protection and welfare, the Telangana government has approved the establishment of 18 new Specialised Adoption Agencies (SAAs) and 2 Child Care Centres (Children's Homes) across the state.

Women and Child Welfare Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya Seethakka signed the file on Friday, paving the way for the project's rollout. The formal implementation will commence once it receives the final approval from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Currently, the state has 17 adoption centres in 15 districts. With the addition of the newly proposed centres, Telangana will have a total of 35 adoption agencies, significantly enhancing its capacity to care for orphans and abandoned children.
