Hyderabad, Jan. 29 -- Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has directed officials to position Telangana as a leader in oil palm cultivation in the country.

During a review meeting with oil palm officials at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the Minister emphasised that cultivation should align with the targets set by the state government.

While oil palm cultivation has been undertaken on 16,729 acres this year, efforts should be made to expand it to 19,271 acres by March. He also stressed the need for awareness programs to encourage farmers to adopt oil palm cultivation, citing the recent increase in oil palm prices, an official statement said.
