Hyderabad, Jan. 1 -- In a major road safety enforcement ahead of New Year celebrations, traffic police across Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri Commissionerates, booked 2,731 drunk driving cases, underscoring continued concerns over alcohol-impaired driving despite repeated warnings and awareness campaigns.
According to a traffic police release issued on Thursday, Hyderabad commissionerate recorded the highest number of cases at 1,198, followed by Cyberabad with 928 cases and Malkajgiri with 605 cases.
The special drive was aimed at ensuring the safety of commuters, deterring drunken driving, and reducing the risk of fatal and non-fatal road accidents during New Year celebrations.
