Dar es Salaam, May 31 -- Tanzanian traffic police in the northern tourism hub of Arusha have provided specialised training to more than 800 tourist vehicle drivers in preparation for the upcoming tourism peak season, which officially begins in June.
Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police William Mkonda said on Friday that the initiative is designed to improve drivers' professional capacity and ensure the safety and quality of transport services offered to tourists.
"Tourist vehicle drivers are essential in shaping Tanzania's global image," Mkonda said. "By adhering to traffic regulations and conducting themselves professionally, these drivers can serve as safety ambassadors and help boost tourist arrivals."
