New Delhi, Feb. 4 -- The Supreme Court of India has started hearing the crucial case challenging the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal by Election Commission of India. The case arises out of the West Bengal Chief Minister's Article 32 petition challenging the SIR process followed by the ECI in the State. With Mamata herself appearing in person before the apex court in Court no 1, the proceedings has gained national spotlight.

Mamata Banerjee appeared in person before a Bench as the SC granted security clearance to her appearance. Lawyers were restricted from entering or exiting freely due to the crowd.
