New Delhi, Jan. 27 -- The Supreme Court, on Monday while hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking nationwide guidelines for women's safety, asked the Union of India why there is no online mechanism in place to enable women to lodge complaints.
Such a system, the Court observed, could address jurisdictional issues and eliminate the need for women to visit police stations physically.
A Bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice N Kotiswar Singh heard the matter and granted six weeks to the Union to file a comprehensive counter-affidavit detailing the stance of all concerned Ministries.
