Colombo, Feb. 21 -- The opening Super 8 clash of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 was abandoned without a ball being bowled as persistent rain played spoilsport at the R Premadasa Stadium here on Saturday.

At 21:07 Local Time, rain returned to have the final say in the contest, leaving both teams to share one point each in a disappointing start to their Super 8 campaign.

The match had already been delayed by light drizzle, which forced covers onto the field shortly before the scheduled start as ground staff worked to keep the playing area dry amid intermittent showers.
