Mumbai, April 4 -- Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has sought support from the Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) for the upcoming by-election in the Baramati Assembly constituency, party sources said.
She spoke on the phone with Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) chief Uddhav Thackeray, sources said.
The by-election is necessitated following the demise of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash in January this year. Sunetra Pawar is the candidate representing the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction).
Meanwhile, the NCP faction headed by Sharad Pawar has decided not to field a candidate in the election. The BJP has also made efforts to ensure the bypoll is held unopposed.
