Chandigarh, May 7 -- A high-security alert was triggered in Jalandhar on Thursday after a threatening email surfaced, warning of a suicide car bomb (IED) attack on Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during his ongoing 'Shukrana Yatra'.
The threatening communication also named union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu as a target, claiming the attacks would be carried out to avenge the death of pro-Khalistan figure Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The email, which mentions multiple Punjab cities including Jalandhar, Amritsar, Adampur, and Fatehgarh Sahib, has put the state's security apparatus on maximum alert.
