Maharajganj, Jan. 10 -- The Gorakhpur Anti-Corruption Organization (ACO) team today arrested Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ashraf Khan, posted at Maharajganj Kotwali, red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant.
The dramatic operation was carried out in front of a sweets shop near the Kotwali, causing panic and commotion in the area.
According to the ACO Gorakhpur team, the complainant, Saidullah, son of Riyazuddin and a resident of Pakdi Khurd village under the Kotwali area, had an FIR (first information report) registered against him. Sub-Inspector Khan allegedly demanded a hefty bribe in exchange for reducing the charges and weakening the case. After negotiations, the deal was settled at Rs 50,000.
