Chandrapur, Feb. 7 -- A sub-adult tiger was discovered dead on Friday in the buffer zone of Maharashtra's Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), according to a press release.

The carcass was located in the Shivni forest range, prompting an immediate response from forest officials.

On inspection, authorities noted injuries around the tiger's neck and evidence that its hindquarters had been partially eaten, making it difficult to identify the sex of the animal.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the tiger may have died during a territorial dispute with another big cat, officials said.

A post-mortem examination was conducted and the carcass was cremated in accordance with established protocols.
