Chennai, Dec. 27 -- A group of students from Varanasi, participating in the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam 4.0 programme, is currently learning the intricate techniques of traditional sculpture in Tamil Nadu.

These students, experiencing the centuries-old South Indian craft tradition, are not only understanding the artistic techniques but also becoming familiar with the philosophy, discipline and cultural values behind them.

During the training, students were taught the nuances of stone and metal-based sculpture.

Local artisans and master craftsmen provided them with practical knowledge on figure creation, balance, proportion, the use of toolsand working with patience.
